Mumpreneur Spotlight: Halle-lula Prints
My name is Leah, I am a lefty and I love to draw. (I think I came into the world holding a pencil) Halle-lula Prints is my small wonderful business which began when I decided not to return to work as a Babywear Designer after starting my family, it simply wasn’t an option for me. I had spent many hours at work day dreaming, talking about drawing up personalised prints for little one’s bedrooms. You can buy everything for a little one’s bedroom but the walls are always left bare.
When my maternity ended, I drew lots and lots to find my signature style, working for a supplier previously meant my style would change. I needed a niche and a handwriting of my own. Feeling very
apprehensive, my supportive, pestering husband gave me the big nudge I needed. I used the power of Facebook to dip my toe in the water. The reaction was incredible, I had orders and now have a following!! Making people happy with my passion for drawing is nothing short of the best.
Each character, pattern and type begins as a hand drawn sketch, is scanned in and coloured up digitally. My customers either come to me with an idea (a Teddy, sat on a deckchair with a Beach hut) or they leave it completely up to me and ask for a surprise! Colour schemes are sometimes left up to me too, or if there is a colour scheme in a bedroom to co-ordinate with – we go with that.
My inspiration comes from everything around me and mostly my little one’s, Halle and Marley. At the moment we are teaching Halle the alphabet so my latest project/idea is a placemat with the alphabet on and a coaster with her initials. It’s useful, a learning tool and also a talking point for us at the table whilst she’s waiting for me to rustle up her food!
The core of Halle-lula Prints are unique, cute, whimsical characters, personalised with names, and or birth details- it’s a decorative piece for your little one’s bedroom, as they get older it becomes a keepsake to cherish. Perfect as a gift for a Christening, New Arrivals, or Birthdays. Or for your own little one!
Whats with the name Halle-lula you say? Halle is my little lady cakes, my mini me. Halle-lula was her nickname, a play on the word Hallelujah!
I am currently only a very small business but I can contribute to my family whilst looking after my two toddlers! At the moment, Halle-lula Prints is only scratching the surface
